A Haymarket Hogmanay 2014….or is that 1938??

Happy New Year everyone!

It does seem quite appropriate, with how our relations on the other side of the border make a great celebration out of New Year (Hogmanay), that the loco to appear on my first post of 2014, is a Scottish A4.

4486 ‘Merlin’ was a highly regarded Edinburgh A4, and that reputation lasted right through until her withdrawal in the 1960’s (Merlin was often found working the Elizabethan in BR Days.)

My Merlin represents as she was in the Summer of 1938, working either the ‘Coronation’ or ‘Flying Scotsman’. I’m very pleased with the results but it’s just a shame the weather didn’t wish to play nicely, otherwise I would have taken the photo outside.

What is next you may ask? Another Garter Blue A4 is planned, although this one was (or should I say is) rather special in that it had an addition at the the front end which the rest didn’t have…..think that gives it away doesn’t it!

All the best for 2014 everyone!
