Grantham’s finest, far from being a lame duck!

Next loco out from the weathering workbench.

4466 ‘Herring Gull’ was one of two A4 Pacifics allocated to Grantham in 1938. Although I couldn’t find a photo of 4466 in the months I’m modelling, logic suggests that as there was only two A4s stabled at Grantham, the shed cleaners would give them priority (the A4s were the LNER’s flagship locos, and the 35 built fleet had only just been completed).

According to RCTS 2A, the two Grantham A4s were used extensively on the overnight sleepers (Aberdonian and Night Scotsman) working through to Edinburgh and working South the next night. I will be portraying these workings on my layout.
